Bruntwood Playwriting Competition

More info: Organised by the Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre, the play must be an original and unperformed piece of work. Amateur performances do not apply
Contact Theatre Young Playwright Festival Competition

More info: Founded in 1986, an annual festival for writers aged between 11 and 25 living in the North West. Around fifteen promising entries are selected for workshops; of these at least six are usually given a professional two week production by the company at the Contact theatre. All the finalists work closely with professional writers and directors to develop their work. All submitted scripts receive a critical analysis.
International
Annual Canadian National Playwriting Competition (Canada)

original, un-produced stage plays in the Full Length and One Act categories. A third, Special Merit category is offered at the jury's discretion and may be a runner up in either category or a script of particular style or subject matter deemed to have production potential and warrants the New Play Festival process. Up to seven Finalists will also be chosen
Shubert Fendrich Memorial Playwriting Contest (USA)

More info: Shubert Fendrich, the founder of PIONEER DRAMA SERVICE, passed away in December of 1989. In tribute to him, the Shubert Fendrich Memorial Playwriting Contest is held annually to encourage the development of quality theatrical material for educational and community theatres.

More info: Drama of any kind of a reasonable length based on word are accepted. Musical opera, operetta, pantomime, poetry, silent happenings or adaptations of any sort are not accepted. The plays should be written in one of the following languages: English, French, German, Greek, Italian or Spanish
Pulitzer Prize for Drama (US)

Award: $10 000
More info: Only U.S. citizens are eligible to apply for the Prizes in Letters, Drama and Music (with the exception of the History category in Letters where the book must be a history of the United States but the author may be of any nationality).
Warehouse Festival International Playwrighting Festival Competition

Award: Annually, the winning play is professionally performed at the Warehouse Theatre.
